. . . do as the Turks do!
Our first night in Istanbul we wandered into a small restaurant on a side street overlooking the Sea of Marmara. What a find! There were only six items on the menu and not another tourist in the restaurant.
It didn't take long to realize that we were the only ones ordering food (which was excellent). Everyone else was there to enjoy hookahs -- a very popular local pastime. With a few encouraging words from a large man at a nearby table (and quite a few laughs, too), we decided to give it a try!
