Zelve ruins in Cappadocia |
Cappadocia makes the imagination run wild. It is a weird, weird landscape covered with caves and so-called "fairy chimneys." It is amazing to think that people began living in these caves thousands of years ago. People continued to live in several of the cave communities, like Zelve, up until the 1960s when they were deemed unsafe. Since then, some of the caves have been refurbished (our hotel for example), and people are still calling them home today.

The closest thing that we've ever seen to these kinds of homes was on the Flintstones!
