Shana Tova to all of our Jewish friends. We hope that you all have a good new year.
We really lucked out with our hostel in Jerusalem for or quite a few reasons, but the number one reason in our book is that they didn't let us go hungry during the first night of Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) when most of the city shuts down. Everyone staying here was invited to a Rosh Hashanah dinner!
We started with three traditional New Year foods:
- Pomegranate seeds: that we may be filled with good deeds like the pomegranate is filled with seeds
- Apples and honey: for a year that is good and sweet like honey
- Dates: for the end of evil
Then we moved onto a fantastic and memorable Rosh Hashanah meal. Yum!
