We are about two hours from the New Year here in Auckland, NZ. After a day filled with two flights, a long layover, and lots of walking around the city, I am a bit afraid David and I won't make it to midnight. So just in case we don't, we wish everyone a happy New Year from NZ. We will certainly be celebrating tomorrow as the rest of the world celebrates. It is going to be a good 2012!

Update: we made it out at midnight by virtue of David setting his alarm for 11:45 p.m., which woke us both up :) We saw a few fireworks, heard a lot of fireworks, and saw tons of people running down the hill towards the water. Not sure what they were running toward, and we didn't follow to find out. A short midnight jaunt and we were back to our hotel room to sleep.
